DALLAS, May 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments (TI) released its seventh-annual Corporate Citizenship Report (CCR) today, detailing the company's social and environmental performance for 2012.

Posted on the company's website at www.ti.com/ccr, TI's citizenship report meets requirements for the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) self-assessed Application Level A, one of the top two highest levels rating transparency. GRI is one of the world's most widely used frameworks for sustainability reporting.

Highlights of TI's performance include:

• Joining the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition to advance efficiency and social, ethical and environmental responsibility in the global electronics supply chain.
• Implementing 217 energy- and water-efficiency projects, a 62 percent increase, resulting in annualized savings of $10.1 million.
• Recycling 1.8 billion gallons of water and 93 percent of waste.
• Increasing female hires by 23 percent in an industry dominated by men. Nearly half of our total hires were women.
• Granting $30.4 million to local community organizations through TI, the TI Foundation and the TI Community Fund. Employees also gave $5.2 million.
• Enabling employees to contribute almost 47,000 hours of their time – a 30 percent increase valued at $1 million – to community organizations.
